The Saint-Louis Arzviller Inclined Plan is a unique boat lift of its kind in Europe.Located on the Marne-au-Rhin canal in the Pays de Phalsbourg, it allows boaters to cross the threshold of the Vosges Massif by making up a drop of 44.55m in a few minutes. Commissioned in 1969 after 4 years of work, this monumental and essential work of navigable waterways in France has replaced 17 traditional locks located in the nearby Vallée des Eclusiers. The Inclined Plan is an industrial site open to tourist visits which welcomes more than 70,000 visitors and sees around 8,000 pleasure boats in transit every year. Commented visit of the site aboard our riverboat, descent of the structure for a mini -cruising on the downstream canal then ascent of the structure on the boat followed by a discovery of the Vallée des Eclusiers (old lock scale) by tourist train.
